Ink supply issue and solution summary

 

We are now summarizing the problems and symptoms related to the UV Print head.

Before dealing with the actual problems and solutions, there are many misconceptions about the head, so we explained the basic knowledge first.

If you understand only the session explained here, you will be able to see that you know more about inkjet heads than the inkjet manufacturer salesperson or equipment distributor engineer.

 

After this session, we will deal with the head-related problems and solutions that actually occurred in our printer.

 

 

 

I. Printhead Basics

1. How ink comes out of the head _ Printhead Basics

If you look at the bottom of the head, you can see something like a line, and if you look at this line with a magnifying glass, you can see countless holes.

Ink is jetted through this small hole, and this small hole is called a nozzle.

When you go inside the nozzle, there is a small passage, and this passage is filled with ink.

This passage moves when an electronic signal comes in. When it moves, the ink that was in the passage comes out.

Depending on how much force and how much time interval you move the passage, the following are determined.

• The straightness of the jetted ink
• The speed of the jetted ink
• The stability of the jetted ink

2. “How many pico is this head?” _ Printhead Basics

When many people say, “This head is a 6 pico head,” they misunderstand the omitted unit as the size unit.

Pico is a unit of 10 to the -12th power, and the unit omitted after pico is liter.

Resolution is determined by how many ink drops fall on the X and Y axes in a 1-inch square.
In other words, the diameter of the circle formed when the ink drops fall on the material, not the volume of the falling ink drops, is needed to determine

how many micro-unit diameter ink drops fall within a 1-inch square.

In other words, the diameter of the ink drops falling on the material is the factor that determines the resolution.

3. Grayscale, multidrop, variable dot _ Printhead Basics

In 2006, the UV Printer we were selling was

• Konica 512 print head, 6pl head
• CMYK Lc Lm 6 colors applied
• Achieved sales of 4 billion won in just one year with the smallest pico liter at the time of development.

In 2007, at the Viscom exhibition in Italy, an Italian dealer sold OCE UV Printer and our equipment together,
and printed on both OCE UV Printer and our equipment with the same image file.
The result was that OCE’s printing quality was better. I don’t remember the name of the head for OCE UV Printer,

• but 7pl head
• CMYK 4 colors applied
• Variable dot, gray scale, multi-drop

4. Head life and warranty _ Printhead Basics

Head manufacturers used to list head lifespans, but they no longer do.
