Today, I will talk about “ARTJET UV Printer – China inkjet level now”.
I. Chinese partner company
1.September 2019, 5 years before Corona
The previous company was a company that developed software programs for inkjet electronic boards.
The completion of the Chinese inkjet software program set the main customer base as Chinese printer manufacturers.
I visited four companies during my business trip to China in 2019.
- An electronic board SW development company with a company size of about 200 people.
- An electronic board SW development company with a company size of about 70 people.
- A manufacturer that manufactures printers and pursues its own software, although it does not have original electronic board SW technology.
- The current ARTJET partner company that also has original electronic board SW technology and manufactures its own printers.
The business I pursued did not go well due to COVID and other reasons, but I am maintaining the ARTJET business through the last company I visited.
Even when I visited 5 years ago, the company did not have any special products.
- A water-based solvent printer that I had before.
- And various types of large format UV flatbed or roll to roll printers.
- The first small size UV printer that I started
That small size UV printer became the current ARTJET.
2. Five years later, November 2024
Nicky, the person in charge of ARTJET, met me in 2012 and has maintained a relationship with me ever since.
He is currently the vice president of the company, in charge of overseas sales, and also in charge of industrial development equipment in China.
Before the business trip, I visited the company thinking of the one I saw 5 years ago, but when I met him that morning, he said, “Sales have quadrupled compared to 5 years ago.”
At first, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s great!’ but after visiting the 3 factories, I was surprised by the size of each factory, especially (not shown on YouTube), the industrial equipment manufacturing plant was unbelievable.

II. I’ve seen some industrial development equipment
1. Printer with 80 industrial print heads
When I saw the textile printer manufacturing plant, on one side there were mass-produced products lined up,
and on the other side there were large or single pass textile printers being manufactured.
When I passed that section, my mouth dropped open. I thought they were building something.
There was a thick, huge frame that looked like a group,
“What kind of equipment are you making?”
“It’s a textile single pass machine.”
“How many print heads does it have?”
“80 of them.”
“Where is this machine being delivered?”
“It’s a place in China where our products are used, and it’s being delivered there.”
2. Single pass printing & 80 print heads requiring advanced technology
When I was working at InkTec, I was in charge of everything from the feasibility study of the development of the new Label single pass business division to the initial sales.
I first learned that it was not easy to process the data transmission to operate about 10 KMi1800 heads in a single pass,
and even if the belt coming from the single pass was slightly shaken to the side, banding occurred, and even if the material transmission speed was slightly different, the color was wrong.

I was overwhelmed as soon as I saw it because I knew the difficulty of producing 80 heads in a single pass,
The second is to produce equipment with the center as the transfer section, and 4 printers on each edge to print the colors needed for each jig.
III. Inkjet is just beginning!!
1. Ink Consumption of Textile Printer
The reason why the partner company grew was because of the ink consumption of the textile printer. The ink margin is not large, but the ink consumption per mass production equipment in the above youtube is said to be 500kgs per month.
2.Textile, packaging and industrial inkjet
It seems like the textile market is opening up with inkjet first.
Until 2017, inkjet had a 1% share in the textile market, but now it seems to be growing beyond imagination.
The next market is the packaging market, and Chinese manufacturers are continuously producing equipment, so this is also expected to grow rapidly.
The next is the level of supplying production equipment tailored to the factory with inkjet, and I understand that some companies are already using inkjet for certain processes.
3. The disappointing thing is,,,
At one time, Korea‘s inkjet technology was far ahead of China’s, but now Korea’s inkjet source technology seems to be almost non-existent.
Since they are responding to industrial inkjets using British boards and software, we can say that they have no source technology.
China has a large number of companies that develop their own electronic boards and software, and many companies that manufacture equipment, so they are far ahead of Korea,
and Japan develops and manufactures print heads directly, so they are a country that can dominate the inkjet market.
I don’t know which industries inkjet will replace in the future, but it seems to be holding the key to the inkjet market that is continuously growing.
