Today I will explain the entire process of creating UV DTF.
I. “What equipment do I need for UV DTF?”
UV Printer, temperature control roll coater, UV DTF film A type and B type.
With these 4 things, you can make UV DTF products.
I will tell you about each condition.
1. UV Printer condition
In order to print on UV DTF, White, Color, and Varnish must all be available.
When printing on sticky transparent film (called UV DTF film A type), color expression is not done properly without White.
Color is printed on White to express color,
and Varnish must be printed on top of it to transfer ink well to the film (called UV DTF film B type) that is coated after heat coating.
The thicker the White and Varnish, the more scratch-resistant they are.
The way it attaches to objects is that the ink sticks directly to the object through the stickiness of Film A, like an illegal parking sticker on a car.
If the ink is too thin, you can see that the stickiness comes off like ink when you scratch it with your fingernail.
For this reason, it is good to have Whtie at least 300% of the color.
The thicker the Varnish, the better it is at resisting scratches.
UV ink is better for Rigid type than soft or medium type.
Depending on which printer you use, the ink characteristics may differ, so I will tell you based on ARTJET UV Ink.
If the ink is medium or soft, it is susceptible to fingernail scratches, so rigid ink is better.
2. Heat Coating Machine Conditions
You should not use a sheet coating machine like the one below just because it is cheap.
No matter how well Film B is attached to printed Film A, the following problems occur during heat coating.
For the heat coating machine, you must use a roll coating machine with good temperature control.
3. UV DTF film A & B type
UV DTF film seems to be widely used now.
When purchasing UV DTF film from domestic or Chinese companies, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Since the Film A & B conditions are set, I recommend that you purchase Film A and B together from the same company.
And you should also check the conditions for making UV DTF products with the UV DTF film seller.
* Which UV ink should I use, Rigid or medium, Soft?
* What is the appropriate white concentration?
* What is the appropriate varnish concentration?
* What is the appropriate heat coating temperature?
II. “How do you do UV DTF?”
1. From printing to UV DTF production
Remove the protective film of the adhesive-covered Film A and place it in the UV printer print position.
White => Color => Varnish normal printing. This is not mirror printing.
After printing, the printed Film A is released onto Film B through a heat coater. This is a photo after heat coating.
When you separate (take off) Film B and Film A, the image and adhesive printed on Film A will be transferred to Film B.
Since nothing remains on Film A, you can throw it away.
Attach Film B, which has the image and adhesive attached to it, to a place such as a glass.
Rub the attached Film B hard with your hand so that the ink attached to the adhesive adheres well to the glass.
Then, when you gently peel off Film B, the image and adhesive transferred to Film B will remain on the material, and only Film B will be peeled off.

However, since it is a video made a long time ago, a sheet cutter was used instead of a roll coater.
If you use a roll coater, many processes become simpler.
