Today I will explain the process of making a light frame using a UV printer and laser cutting machine.
I. When laser cutting equipment is added to the UV Printer,
1. Items that can be made with just a UV printer
When purchasing a UV Printer, color white is basic, and in the case of white, the concentration must be at least 200% of the color.
If you include Varnish, you can create various applications.
I recommend purchasing equipment that can do Color + White + Varnish.

2. With the addition of laser cutting equipment
You can make various items such as cell phone griptok, keychain, acrylic picture frame, etc. Most importantly, if you have UV printer and laser cutting equipment by your side, you can experiment with the items you think of.
II. Making Acrylic Lights
1. Whole Scheme
If you engrave it on acrylic with a laser and shine a light from below, only the engraved part will be brightly lit by scattering light.
I was thinking of engraving the outer border and letters of the image to be printed with a UV printer and emphasizing them with lights.
To do that,
laser cutting was needed to mount the lights and make the acrylic base plate,
and of course, laser engraving was also done to make the letters and border.
Lastly, UV printing was done to match the engraved border.
That’s how the finished product was made.

III. Things to check before purchasing a laser cutting machine
1. Whether the dome(camera) function is available
‘I can just do it manually, but I don’t have the money, so let’s remove the dome function’

Even with the dome cutting function, there may be some errors.
Moreover, it is really not easy to do it by hand.
When printing with a UV printer, it must fit the frame like a knife, and when cutting with a laser, it must fit like a knife mechanically.
The starting point seems to be correct, but the farther away from the origin, the more errors there are.
If you are considering purchasing a laser cutting machine, you must definitely include the dome cutting function.
2. Limitations of the engraving function
In the case of Chinese equipment, whether the Y-axis is moved by belt or screw, there are parts that pop up here and there.
I do not recommend purchasing Chinese laser cutting equipment for the dual purpose of ‘cutting and sometimes engraving’.
It would be better to purchase a separate laser engraving equipment that is cheaper.
3. Can laser engraving make money?
Laser equipment that can both cut and engrave expresses the image by finely moving the X and Y axes during the engraving process.
It takes a lot of time to compare laser cutting.
If you calculate the unit price of acrylic lighting on the market and the time it takes to engrave, the profitability is low.
For this reason, when purchasing a Chinese laser cutting machine, I recommend purchasing it without thinking about the engraving function.
