Today, I will explain how to make equipment button name tags using a UV printer and laser cutting machine.
I. Acrylic Button Name Tag Production Process
1. Ai file
Dombo Mark(Camera cutting purpose) Layer for Laser Dombo Cutting
Color layer for button function explanation
White spot layer for shielding since it is transparent acrylic.
Cutting layer for laser cutting.
In this way, prepare 4 layers in one Ai file.
2. UV Printing
Activate only the Dombo Mark layer, Color layer, and White spot layer in the Ai file and save the file
Proceed with back printing of the Ai file saved with UV Printer.
The photo below is the printed material viewed from the back after Mirror printing.
3. Attach double-sided tape
Before laser cutting, attach the double-sided tape on the white printing surface.
4. laser cutting
Activate only the Dombo Mark layer and cutting layer and save the Ai file.
Open the file in the laser cutting program and proceed with Dombo cutting.
5. Attach
Once cutting is complete, just remove the double-sided tape protective film and attach it to the button location and you’re done!!

This is an item developed at my previous workplace, and at first, the button function description was done with an adhesive sheet label.
Since it was a product developed through a lot of research, a lot of research costs and failure costs were incurred, and of course, the price was high.
When the adhesive sheet label was attached, the design was ruined and it looked cheap.
We could have changed the design to give it a more luxurious feel, but the design and processing costs would have been added again,
So we looked for another way, and decided to change only the name tag.
That’s how we changed the button name tag from an adhesive sheet label to an acrylic, and after the change,
The thick acrylic felt more luxurious than the thin adhesive sheet,
and in particular, the color printed on the white caught our eye.
