I. Problem Symptoms
1. Customer Information
On June 20th, 2023, they purchased all the equipment including UV Printer, Laser Cutting Machine, Acrylic Bonding Machine, and Roll Coating Machine.
He was in the construction business and bought all of our equipment to start a new goods business.
He also has a contract with a entertainment agency and is working with several writers.
2. “The ink started to fade at first, but it gradually got better.”
Since most of the work is acrylic goods, he is printing in reverse(Mirror image), and
When printing is complete, the first section does not have a red color, but as printing progresses, the red color gradually appears and it is printed normally.
3. Wired call
“Manager, since the back side prints a normal image, it doesn’t seem to be a DATA-related problem, but rather an ink supply problem.”
“I’m worried because the problem is not regular.”
“First, please replace the Captop and check the symptoms.”

“If you have time, I’ll ask you to come on a business trip tomorrow. I have to replace the PC and install a new program, and the current problem has been improved, but it hasn’t been resolved.”
“Yes, I understand.”
“By the way, when I lift the print head and look underneath, I can see a strange red color all around the print head protection metal.”
“The duct inside the magenta print head may be broken. I’ll arrive early tomorrow morning.”
II. Check the problem
1. ARTJET Test Image Printing
I raised the print head carriage and looked at the bottom of the color print head, it was excessively contaminated, so I wiped it well with a wiper,
Nozzle pattern TEST, all print head nozzles came out normal,
I also printed the ARTJET TEST image in this state, and this also came out normal.
“Oh, the image came out normal.”
“There isn’t much red in the TEST image, so it could come out normal. “DATA is normal, and you replaced the Captop. First, I’ll check if the ink is supplied to the Damper.”
“Okay, I understand.”
“If there is no problem with the ink supply to the Damper, the only cause is the Print head, so I’ll replace the Print head as you requested.”
“Okay.”
2. Ink supply
When loading ink, ink comes out without bubbles, but to make sure,
After separating the magenta and light magenta dampers from the print head, I tried drawing ink with a syringe.
Both inks were drawn well with the syringe,
“I’ll replace the print head.”
3. Print head replacement
FA1080-a1 is a low-cost print head and does not have a long lifespan.
The manager who is currently using ARTJET, was lucky with the print head and used it for 1 year and 6 months,
and because the print head was fixed for a long time, even when the screw that tightens the print head was loosened, the surrounding ink stuck and it was a bit difficult to remove the print head.
When I lifted the print head, it tilted to the side, and red appeared and accumulated in the tilted area.
So I wiped the red with a wiper,
“Manager, I think the magenta or light magenta pipe burst inside the print head.”
“I thought so too. The red ink was visible outside the print head,,”
III. FA1080-a1 print head
1. Print head High price VS low price?
A representative who recently visited K print said that he asked a UV printer sales company to print a TEST image file, and after printing, banding was visible.
“Why is there banding here?”
“That’s just how it is.”
The print head of the company in question seems to have been a Ricoh Gen6 print head.
“What is the price of the print head?”
“It’s over 3 million won.”
“If we replace them all,,, it’s 1/3 of the equipment price.”
While selling large-sized UV printers for 15 years, the most difficult issue was the print head-related issue.
One print head costs over 3 million won, and there are as few as 8 and as many as 16.
Whether it was the fault of the consumer or the manufacturer, the amount was so large that if something went wrong, it would have been a really big accident.
Printing samples that come out of the banding with demo equipment at the exhibition hall may have been due to the limitations of the printer itself,
but it is possible that the equipment sales company went without replacing it because investing in expensive print heads for a 4-day exhibition was burdensome.
If a low-priced print head has a certain lifespan, I think the low-priced print head is much more profitable than the expensive print head.
2. ARTJET UV Printer 18 channel
FA1080-a1 Print head is a 6-channel print head.
ARTJET UV Printer uses 3 low-cost FA1080-a1 print heads.
Since it is low-cost, the burden of replacing the print heads is small.
With a total of 18 channels, you can postpone purchasing new print heads as much as possible by swapping each print head instead of putting in a new print head right away.
Print head 1 : CMYK Lc Lm 6 channel.
Print head 2 : W W W W W W 6 channel.
Print head 3 : V V V V V V 6 channel.
In the case of the Color print head, if only one channel is wrong, it affects the image and must be replaced immediately, but
the Print head in charge of White and Varnish can be used because it can implement sufficient density even if only three channels are okay.
Also, if one channel of the Color print head is wrong, instead of replacing it with a new Print head,
you can swap it with a Varnish or White print head that has all six channels alive and use it.
