Today I’m going to talk about a solution to the problem of white lines appearing when printing only color.

 

I. Problem symptoms _White lines appear during printing

1. After setting up automatic printing of two images _White lines appear during printing  

Most ARTJET UV printer users print acrylic goods.

While color + white printing, like GripTok, is available, color + white + color (three-layer printing) is more common.

The print heads are arranged in a staggered manner rather than in a single row, so when printing three layers, color + white is printed first, followed by color printing separately.

You can configure the printer program to automatically start the second image after printing the first.

This is simple:

• Select the CW image and click the Print button,
• Select the next image and click the Print button again.
• After the first image finishes printing, the second image will automatically start printing.

The first image is a ripped file with color + white, or 7 colors.

The second image is a file ripped in Color, that is, 6 colors.

2. White lines appearing when printing the second color _White lines appear during printing

When printing the first White + Color image, it prints normally.

However, when printing the second image with only the Color Ripped, a white line not included in the data appears, as shown in the image below.

 

II. Solve _White lines appear during printing

1. First solution _White lines appear during printing   

This issue appears to be a compatibility issue between ARTJET Software and Rip.

When ripping only color in Rip software,
setting both Spot 1 and Spot 2 to “None” as shown below will resolve the white line issue.

If you don’t select “None” when setting the Spot color, the image color number in the ARTJET software will be displayed as C M Y K Lc Lm, White, and 7 colors.

If you select “None” for both Spot 1 and Spot 2, the color number will be displayed as C M Y K Lc Lm, 6 colors.

 

2. Second solution _White lines appear during printing   

When ripping only color,

selecting a small dot that doesn’t interfere with the printed image as a white spot will prevent white lines from appearing.

 

According to the Chinese manufacturer,

• When ripping only color, Sai RIP only generates CMYK Lc Lm data.
• However, even when printing only color, the printer program generates white data as blank data in addition to the CMYK Lc Lm data.
• This suggests an error in this process.
• Instead, creating a single small dot of white data on the RIP will bypass the printer’s automatic generation process,
• resolving the white line issue.

 

Setting Rip to None will usually resolve the issue. If that doesn’t work, you can try this method to resolve the white line issue.

While this isn’t a fundamental solution, it allows printing without issues.
