I’m summarizing UV printer problems and solutions.

Now, I’m organizing the problems and symptoms related to UV Printer heads.

Before dealing with the actual problems and solutions, there are many misconceptions about heads, so I’ll explain the basic knowledge first.

If you understand only the sessions explained here, you will be able to see that you know more about inkjet heads than inkjet manufacturer salespeople or equipment distributor engineers.

Head Basics Summary

 

Last time, I explained why the following problem occurred.

Today I’m going to talk about a problem where a specific color suddenly over sprayed.

 

I. Problem symptoms and cause estimation _A certain color is over sprayed

2. Print Test Image_A certain color is over sprayed

The ARTJET TEST image sent together with the delivery contains various information.

• Is the offset correct?
• Which color is the problem?
• Is the color expressed properly?

As shown in the picture below, the circled area is the area where only pure magenta has fallen, and you can see at a glance that it is a magenta channel problem, not a light magenta problem.

Now, you need to check the following.

• Magenta ink is over spraying, but DATA is coming out normally, so it is not an electronic board problem.
• However, is it the print head or the data cable? It needs to be checked.
• Magenta ink itself deteriorating
• Magenta ink supply problem

 

III. Problem Solving Process _A certain color is over sprayed

1. Ink? Head? Data Cable?  _A certain color is over sprayed

There is a simple way to check if it is a DATA problem or an ink problem.

This is a method to check by swapping the dampers.

• Swap the damper of the problematic Magenta channel with the Cyan damper that is normally output
• Pump out the existing ink remaining in the print head,
• and change the channels in the order of Cyan and Magenta dampers in the software.
• Print QC image

We printed the test image like this,

• The problematic Magenta went to the Cyan position, and the Cyan color was printed normally.
• However, the Cyan that was fine started to over sprayed like the previous Magenta when it went to the Magenta position.
• In other words, if there was a problem with the Magenta ink itself or a problem with the Magenta ink supply, the same problem should have occurred with the Magenta printed in the Cyan position, but it was printed normally.

In other words, it is not a problem with the Magenta ink or the Magenta ink supply.

The only thing left is either the Print head itself or the Print head data cable!!

2. Head? Data cable? _A certain color is over sprayed

Usually the DATA cable problem is

• The nozzle pattern itself does not come out,
• Or ink does not come out during the printing operation.

Because of this, I tried replacing the head first, and the problem was solved.

 

There are usually two cases for this problem.

• An error may occur in the DATA connection part of the head itself,
• Or the ink line of that specific channel may burst, causing this problem.

 

3. Caution _A certain color is over sprayed

The company representative replaced the head himself.

By mistake, the cable was connected while the power was on, and the DATA cable was burned.

Fortunately, the head was successfully installed by connecting the new DATA cable to the print head.

This is a very lucky case, and if you connect the head while the power is on, the worst case scenario is that the head or the board can be damaged.

Always remember to turn off all power when connecting the electronic board, print head, or cables!!
