Today, we will discuss problems related to image data, such as electronic boards, heads, and data cables. The first time, we will discuss problems that occur when the head or data cable is contaminated.
I. Problem symptoms _ Head DATA cable contamination
When printing at 70% white density
- Below is a photo of white printed using the XP600 head.
- Cleaning is good, and the nozzle pattern is good,
- but when printing, grain-like patterns appear along the Y axis, not the X axis.

Symptoms when White Density is 100%
- I wondered if the Y-axis grains were due to insufficient white density, so I increased the white density to 100% and printed.
- At first, it looked normal, but after 4cm of printing, the white gradually disappeared.
- After 8cm, it disappeared altogether.
- A closer look at the first section also revealed a persistent grain-like pattern along the Y-axis.

II. Solve _Head DATA cable contamination
Pumping and cleaning were working well, and the nozzle pattern is a good.
So, I approached this as a data-related issue rather than an ink supply issue.
1. Contaminated DATA cable
Carriage board replacement
- I suspected the problem was caused by one of three factors: the head board, the head, or the data cable connecting the head and the head board.
- Since printing was working, I suspected the board was the problem, rather than the head or data cable.
- With this in mind, I replaced the electronic board first, but the problem remained.
DATA cable check
- Next, it’s either the head or the data cable.
- To replace the data cable, I removed it from the head, only to find it contaminated with ink, as shown in the photo below.
- After cleaning the data cable with alcohol and connecting it to the head, I tested the print, but this time, even the nozzle pattern didn’t appear.
- Instead of cleaning it with alcohol, I replaced it with a new data cable, but still no data was output.

2. The dangers of contaminated data cables
The problem was resolved by replacing both the head and data cable at once.
If the data cable is contaminated with ink or liquid,
- If ink gets into the data cable connected to the head, simply replacing the cable won’t solve the problem.
- After disconnecting the data cable and closely examining the head connection, I noticed a partial burn.
- If ink gets into the head and data cable connection,
- it can damage not only the data cable but also the head itself.
- In unlucky cases, reverse current can flow from the head, damaging the head board.
If ink has entered the red box in the photo below,
- you must clean it off immediately.
- If it’s too late and ink has spilled onto the connection, turn off all power to the printer and replace the head cable immediately.
- Leaving it unattended could damage the head or even the head board.
Also, if the data is displayed abnormally during printing, replacing the data cable or head before replacing the board will resolve the issue more quickly.

III. ARTJET UV Printer
One thing I’ve noticed after five years of sales and maintenance of ARTJET UV printers is that troubleshooting data is second only to product stability.
All products have issues, whether they’re caused by actual equipment problems or consumer error. Product stability hinges on how quickly and easily you can resolve those issues.
ARTJET compiles all troubleshooting data.
