I. Large and small equipment _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

1. Head mainly used in large UV printers _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Large UV printers with large print sizes use expensive print heads.

  • One color per head, and two print heads are used for white, which has a weak whiteness.
  • A four-color printer uses six print heads: C, M, Y, K, W, and W.
  • A six-color printer uses eight print heads: C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm, W, and W.
  • If varnish or primer is added, one white print head must be replaced with the corresponding functional ink, or an additional print head must be added, for a total of nine print heads.

While a single head can cost up to 3 million or 4 million won, industrial print heads are also consumables and are not covered by warranty.

The head lifespan

  • assuming proper maintenance, is approximately 2-3 years of use.
  • However, maintaining this is not as easy as it may seem.
  • If one of the numerous nozzles produces diagonal spray,
  • or one or two nozzles become clogged, streaks or grains will appear when printing solid colors in the same color family as the clogged head.
  • White also uses up to two heads. If two or three of the white head nozzles become clogged, streaks or grains will also appear in the background white.
  • As shown in the photo below, if the nozzles produce diagonal spray or become clogged,

  • An accident may occur, such as when the bottom of the head hits something and damages the nozzle hole.

Because heads are expensive,

  • a variety of head-piercing liquids are commercially available.
  • These solutions sometimes solve the problem, sometimes not.
  • If the head touches the material or collides with something, it inevitably becomes a consumable item, requiring replacement.

2. Head mainly used in small UV printers _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

A print head capable of operating four or six colors on a single print head can be considered a low-cost print head.

Compared to industrial print heads, these print heads feature a weaker piezoelectric actuator (a thin plate that vibrates) for a lower price.

Prices vary depending on the print head, but a four-channel or six-channel print head typically costs between 1 million and 2 million won.

II. Criteria for Choosing a Small UV Printer _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

1. Print quality is our top priority _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Large UV printers are primarily used for large prints, hung on walls or installed elsewhere.

With a viewing distance of about a meter, uneven ink dot patterns aren’t a major issue.

However, small UV printers are often installed in areas where the human eye can see them, often printing on tangible goods.

Because the viewing distance is short, it’s necessary to examine the print closely. Any uneven ink dot patterns or streaks can be problematic.

As such, sales of small devices can be difficult without excellent print quality, so print quality must be a top priority.

2. Industrial heads vs. Epson series heads _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Having worked with UV printer manufacturers for over 15 years, negotiating sales and after-sales service issues, I can tell you that

installing an expensive industrial print head on a small UV printer is a flawed concept.

If the print quality is better or equivalent, a lower-priced print head should be chosen, even if it means slower printing speeds.

  • If even one or two nozzles in one of the head’s color channels are obliquely sprayed or clogged, streaks will appear when printing solid colors.
  • Since white inks typically only use one or two expensive print heads, if a few nozzles are clogged, grains will appear on the white background.
  • Any accidental hit to the print head can cause damage.

At the exhibition, a company showcased a UV printer equipped with a Ricoh Gen6 print head in a compact device.

  • The device costs approximately 30 million won, and each head costs 3 to 4 million won.
  • The official names of the Ricoh Gen6 print heads are the MH5320 (capable of operating up to two colors) and the MH5340 (capable of operating up to four colors).
  • Even if the MH5340 operates in four colors, a clogged nozzle would cost 30 to 4 million won to replace.
  • If a MH5320 two-color head is used, two heads would be required for CMYK configuration, costing 60 to 80 million won.

If the device costs 30 million won, and each head costs 30 to 4 million won, it’s difficult for customers to invest that much when it’s time to replace the head.

Among the employees I worked with, some who were in charge of after-sales service left the company and now run a print shop. Their opinions are as follows:

  • “With a small UV printer, even if just a few nozzles get clogged, solid color or white backgrounds appear. How can I replace the expensive head every time that happens?”
  • “With a small UV printer, I’d rather just use a cheap head, replace it whenever one or two nozzles get clogged, and enjoy the same quality as when I first installed it.”

III. Seller’s position _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

1. Prices that customers won’t have to argue with _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Back when JETRIX UV Printers were being sold, a single head cost between 3.5 and 4 million won.

Every time a JETRIX UV Printer customer replaced a head, I remember how they felt, and the difficult exchanges that ensued, often due to unclear reasons.

When heads are expensive, no matter how good the relationship, arguments are inevitable every time a head is replaced.

2. Print quality _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Don’t assume that the XP600 head’s low price means poor print quality.

Print quality depends on a combination of factors,

and the XP600 head’s print quality is comparable to other heads.

For more information on print quality, see below.

3. Meaning that White uses 6 channels _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

Due to the high cost of the heads, large UV printers use one or two white heads.

  • If a few nozzles in one or two heads become clogged, streaks can appear when printing white.
  • Furthermore, Roland devices that use two white channels often experience complaints about insufficient white density.
  • However, the XP600 head almost always uses its entire head as white,
  • capable of achieving a white density of up to 600% compared to the color.
  • The white density is sufficient, and even if one or two white nozzles become clogged, no banding is visible.
  • The video below uses 6 channels of white, with each channel having a density of 50%. This means that the density is printed at 300% white (6 channels x 50% = 300%).

4. Programs that allow channel swapping _Why XP600 is a Good for small UV

As shown in the link below, you can also control the color by swapping the damper and changing the software.

For white, you can simply lock the channel with poor nozzle condition and increase the overall concentration to achieve the same concentration of white.

IV. This is how ARTJET supports our customers.

One thing I feel while selling and maintaining ARTJET UV Printers for 5 years is that the next most important thing after product stability is Troubleshooting DATA.

All products have problems, whether they are actual equipment problems or consumer errors, and product stability is how easily and quickly you solve those problems.

We are organizing all the troubleshooting DATA as follows.
