Today I will explain to you about a problem where everything else is normal and the pumping does not work even after replacing the parts.

I. Problem _UV Printer Move the capping station to align the head and captop positions

 

 

A. First, I started checking to see if there were any abnormalities at the bottom based on the Captop.

“Team Leader, after replacing the white print head, the ink load (pumping) is not working. It hasn’t been long since I replaced the captop and the yellow tube,”
“Manager. If you pour alcohol and pump it to see if there is any problem with the bottom of the captop, what will happen?”
“The alcohol comes out, but the white ink doesn’t come out.”

 

B. The fact that only alcohol comes out and no white ink comes out is also a symptom that occurs when the captop and print head are not completely sealed. For this reason, I tried to strengthen the seal by increasing the captop height.

“let’s try increasing the capping height value by 1.”
“How do I increase it?”
“In the Print head cleaning setting, in Elevator,,, please increasing the capping height value by 1.”
“But it still doesn’t work.”

C. Even if the captop bottom tube is slightly loose, alcohol will come out, but air may be trapped through the loose gap, preventing white ink from coming out.

“Manager, just in case, please replace the captop bottom tube with a new one and push it all the way in so that it is sealed well.”

“I replaced it and pulled it to make sure it was tight, but white ink still doesn’t come out.”

 

Alcohol came out, and checked the following, so I thought that the bottom of the Captop was normal.

• The Captop was also replaced not long ago, and it was normal until the head was replaced.
• Raised the height of the Captop and checked the sealing once more,
• and also checked if there was air leaking from the bottom tube of the Captop,

 

There are only two things that can be a problem at the top based on the captop: air leaks in the ink tube connected to the damper, or the damper is not tightly attached to the head.

“Manager, White shares the ink tube, so use a cable tie to bend the remaining 5 ink lines to prevent them from being shared with other lines. Then, put a syringe on the damper and draw out the ink one by one. If there are a lot of bubbles, air is leaking from that damper, and the seal is broken because of that, so only air comes out instead of ink when pumping.”

“Team Leader, I tried everything, but there is no damper that has a lot of air coming in. It still doesn’t pump.”

When we connected the Color Y fitting to the White motor pump tube, the pumping went well. The White peristaltic pump worked normally,

However, when we connected the White Y fitting to the Color motor pump tube, the ink didn’t coming out.

That is, the lower part of the Captop is normal for both the Color and White.

 

The top is also normal based on the Captop.

The bottom is also normal based on the Captop.

The only remaining problem is that the head and the captop positions do not match, which is why they are not sealed.

 

 

“Manager, are you really tired?”

“Oh, it’s hard. I started this to save on AS travel expenses, but it’s hard.”

“I’ll try one more thing. The top is normal, the bottom is normal, and there’s only the Captop and print head positions, so I’ll just check those one last time.”

 

After a while,,,

“Team leader, white ink is loading. You should have told me this earlier,,,,,”

“That’s fortunate. There was no problem until the print head was replaced, so I thought the position was correct,, but this was the cause.”

“That’s right. Thank you for your hard work.”

“You worked hard, manager^^”

 

3. How to align the print head and captop _UV Printer Move the capping station to align the head and captop positions

 

Left and right values

As shown in the picture above, the left and right can be precisely specified in the software.

You can adjust the “Origin springback (mm)” value to fit, and although it is written as mm, it is in dot units.

That is, when the absolute value “3” is increased or decreased, it moves about 1 mm. This value is almost always correct because I set it before the equipment is delivered.

 

Up and down adjustment

You can move the entire capping station up and down to align the exact positions of the captop and printhead.

If you loosen the two bolts as shown in the picture, you can move the entire capping station block little by little.

• In this loosened state, press the pump (inkload) and while the pump motor is operating,
• and move the capping station block back and forth little by little with your hand,
• at some point you will hear a ‘thump thump’ sound, and after this sound, ink will start to come out.
• At the position where you hear the ‘thump thump’ sound, hold the block with your hand so that it does not move,
• and in that state, tighten the two bolts that were loosened at the bottom.

 

When adjusting the up and down position, there is a slight gap left and right, so the entire capping station block may shift to the side.
You should check once more that the white ink load is correct and that the color and varnish are not abnormal.
