UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

 

This is the fourth time I’ve had ink supply issues and solutions.

From the main ink bottle, through the damper, through the print head, the bottom of the print head and the captop are sealed, and the ink flows into the waste ink tank through the motor pump.

Today, I will explain the Captop and Print head positions.

I. Equipment Inspection Items _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

1. Position and horizontal _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment  

This is something to check when setting up the equipment for the first time.

However, it can be messed up during use, so I’m sharing the contents.

Before installing the print head, set the home position so that the print head mounting area is in the center of the captop at the X axis home position.

If the bottom of the print head and the captop are not in the correct position, the seal will not be formed, so it must be in the exact center.

UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment Check the horizontality of the entire print head carriage where the head is mounted.

If the print head carriage bottom plate where the print head is mounted is tilted severely,
Even if the print head and Captop are positioned correctly, color ink load (pumping) may be good, but white ink may not be good.
On the contrary, white ink may be good, but color ink load may not be good.

Even if there is a spring at the bottom of the Captop, this problem occurs because the carriage bottom plate is tilted, one side receives more force, and the other side receives less force, and the seal is not formed.

 

Just like the head carriage bottom plate, the capping station inclination should also be checked for level.

“Surely, do I have to align it all horizontally? The captop is attached to the bottom of the head by a spring,,,”

For over a month, the White nozzle condition was good and bad, and no matter what I did, it didn’t work out, and in the end, it was a capping station leveling problem.

To explain briefly,

• The nozzles of White channels 5 and 6 recovered immediately after cleaning, but channels 1, 2, 3, and 4 did not recover well.
• The problem was solved immediately after replacing the captop, but the same problem occurred the next day,
• and it wasn’t that the ink load (pumping) didn’t work,
• and in the end, the capping station was tilted, so when ink load (pumping) was done in White channels 1 and 2, ink came out well,
• but in White channels 3, 4, 5, and 6, where the inclination was ambiguous, ink didn’t come out properly when ink load (pumping), and the nozzle recovery was not the problem.

2. Height of capping station_UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment     

If the capping station seals the underside of the print head too tightly, it can cause problems later on.

“No way, the ink load (pumping) is fine now, and there is no problem with the printing, so aren’t you just scaring me for nothing?”

This is also something I suffered from for a month because I couldn’t find the cause.

• I delivered two ARTJETs, but only one of them had a problem where the lc or LM suddenly fell out during printing.
• I checked everything from the ink tube, and since I couldn’t find the cause, I even replaced the entire ink line. However, the same problem occurred two days after replacing the ink line,
• and I replaced the Captop just in case, and all the problems were suddenly solved in an instant. I thought it was solved, but the same problem occurred again.
• I checked this and that again, but there was nothing wrong,,,, so I replaced the Captop again just in case, because I had nothing else to do. And then it was solved again.
• I was anxious, but more than a week passed without any problems, and I thought it was just solved by luck.
• What the heck, the same problem occurred again 10 days later.

 

The cause was the height of the capping station.

• When I first replaced the captop, the captop rubber blade was still alive, so the print head nozzle did not touch the cloth inside the captop,
• and over time, the rubber blade weakened, so the captop cloth touched the bottom of the print head, and ink continued to flow out from the damper.
• When I printed right after cleaning, it worked fine,
• but when I took a short break, the print head nozzle touched the cloth inside the captop, and the damper ink leaked out again through the print head nozzle,,,
• and when I printed a second time in this state, the ink leaked out again,,

II. Adjusting the print head and captop positions _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

There is no forward/backward adjustment function in the software,

and you have to loosen the two bolts that secure the capping station at the bottom and adjust the position by hand.

The position error is not much, and when you adjust it while it is inkloaded (pumping), you can fix it in that position.

3. Height _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

The average value is used as 5.

If used as 6, the problem mentioned above may occur.

III. When the location is not right _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

1. “Ink and bubbles come out together” _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

Ink comes out of the waste ink tank, but sometimes there are a lot of bubbles mixed in.
This happens when the bottom of the print head and the captop do not exactly match, and air is slightly trapped in the corners.
At this time, pour white ink into the captop, move it to the left without cleaning the print head in the capping state, and you can check the position of the captop by looking at the bottom of the head.
You can correct the position of the captop based on the ink marks on the surface of the print head.

When adjusting the position slightly, it is better to adjust the position by loosening the two bolts in the picture below and adjusting the captop position without moving the entire capping stattion.

 

 

2. “Pumping works fine, but the end channel just doesn’t come out.” _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

   

The Captop rubber blade is pressing the end channel nozzle.
It is sealed because it is pressing the head surface, so the ink load (pumping) is good,
but the Captop rubber is blocking the nozzle channel, so the end channel does not come out.

3. Complex problem _UV Printer Head Captop Position Alignment

 

If ink load (pumping) is not done, cleaning is not done and printing cannot proceed, so ink load (pumping) must be resolved.

Ink load (pumping) problems can be caused by various factors such as captop, damper, motor pump, bottom of print head, and captop position.

From now on, I will cover actual problems and solutions or more detailed information.
