UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale

Today, I will explain the problem where both White and Color are in good condition, but the color suddenly appears pale.

I. Problem Symptoms _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale

This is one of the questions that is inevitably asked by those who are new to UV Printers shortly after delivery.

“The color and white print head nozzle are fine, but when I printed the test image today, the overall color was lighter.”

“Strangely, the color did not match at the beginning, but as I was printing in the middle, it started to print in the correct color little by little.”

3. Troubleshooting _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale

 

The solution is simple. Just do the following:

“Representative, please clean the white ink load (pumping) after 15 seconds and print the test image again.”

 

In addition,

“Color and varnish do not need ink load (pumping), please proceed with ink load only for white.”

“Not after pressing the white ink load button, but after white ink starts flowing out into the waste ink bottle, please stop white ink load (pumping) after 15~20 seconds.”

“After ink load (pumping), ink is stuck on the bottom of the head, so you must clean it. Since only white ink was loaded, please clean only white.”

“Since white ink is forcibly removed from the damper by ink load (pumping), there is no ink inside the damper, so the nozzle pattern may be unstable even after cleaning. Wait for about 5 minutes, perform white cleaning 1~2 times, and then print the test image.”

“During the test image printing, ink is supplied to the damper, and the white jetting condition also improves. If you clean it once or twice after the test printing, the nozzle condition will be greatly restored.”

 

II. Why does Color appear light? _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale

If you look at the picture above, the color on the left is dull, and the color on the right is bright.

If you only look at the color, it feels that way.

However, don’t just look at the CMYKLcLm color, but take a closer look at the White.
The white on the left is dark, and the white on the right is bright.
In both pictures I shared at first, the concentration of White was not enough, so the color that fell on it looks dull.

“The color is light”,
“My color comes out from the middle of the print”

Both problems are white concentration issues.

 

2. White ink characteristics _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale  

CMYK Lc Lm, color ink,
In order to express the color well, it need to put in the right amount of color pigment.
If there is too much color pigment, it will be dark and cloudy, and if there is too little, the color will not be expressed properly.
In other words, it does not need to put in a lot of color pigment.

 

On the other hand, White Ink
First, it need to use the proper white pigment to express right white,
and the next important thing is,
Whether it is a high concentration, transparent material, or a colored material, it is important to use White to properly shield with white.

 

For this reason,
White Ink’s white pigment itself is larger than the color pigment.
Also, color ink comparison, white pigment is added to the maximum.
Since the white pigment of white is large and a lot is added, if white ink is not stirred periodically, the color ink comparison, white pigment will sink to the bottom.

There is a stir device in the main ink bottle, so the white ink is well mixed in the main ink bottle.
However, there is no stirring device or circulation device in the ink tube, which is about 2.5 meters from the main ink bottle to the damper.
If you use it every day, the ink flows in the ink tube, so the heavy pigment will not settle.
However, if you do not use it for 2~3 days, the heavy pigment of the white ink in the ink tube will settle to the bottom.
Since the white pigment gathers at the bottom, the white at the bottom of the ink tube becomes dark, and the white above becomes light.
Since the light white at the top is light and has good flowability, it flows to the damper first due to the convection pressure,
and this light white comes out.
During the nozzle test, although it is light, the white is still alive, so printing is carried out.

In this way, when the light white is printed as a color scheme and the color is placed on top, the color is expressed dull due to the light white.

 

4. Ink load function _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Colors are pale   

Ink load and pumping are the processes of forcibly removing ink.

When ink load is performed, the separated ink in the ink tube is removed into the waste ink container, and the ink tube and damper are filled with the ink in the ink bottle.

When printing is performed in this state, white with increased concentration is printed.

 

For reference, since the white ink in the damper also undergoes layer separation, in some cases, rather than performing a white clean,

if you perform a short ink load and then a cleaning, the white nozzle state can be restored more quickly.
