UV Printer, Pumping not work even replacing all consumables

Today, I will explain the problem where Inkload (pumping) did not work even after replacing the captop, replacing the yellow tube (pump tube), and checking the positions of the head and captop several times.

1. Customer information 

This is the equipment delivered to Hongik University Sejong Campus 1 year and 5 months ago.
The equipment delivered to the school is used by students, but the general public can also use it after receiving simple training.
This is a place where various problems can occur while working with multiple users.

2. “Alcohol comes out, but the inkload(pumping) doesn’t work.” 

I tried working together while checking over the phone, but Inkload (pumping) did not work.
He was reluctant to replace equipment consumables because he was a school assistant,,,

II. Problem solving process _UV Printer, Pumping not work even replacing all consumables

 

1. Bottom of head and captop location 

When I poured alcohol on the captop and did inkload (pumping), the alcohol came out into the waste ink bottle, so I judged that the captop and print head were in the correct positions.

2. Captop and i’ts bottom tube

Up until now, when alcohol came out well and ink didn’t come out, it was mostly because the Captop lower tube was loose and air was coming in.
Since the Captop was never replaced after installation,
When replacing the Captop, I also replaced the Captop lower tube with a new tube to make sure it was tightly sealed.

‘Now it will inkload, right?’

Contrary to expectations, the inkload didn’t work.

3. Motor pump tube 

The yellow tube (Motor pump) was also not replaced for 1 year and 5 months, so after replacing it, I poured alcohol on the Captop and did the ink load (pumping) in the same way, but only the alcohol came out of the waste ink bottle, and the ink still did not come out.

 

4. Ink supply to damper

‘This definitely isn’t it,,,’

Just in case, after separating the damper from the print head, I pulled ink with a syringe and checked if air was leaking,

and the ink flowed into the syringe without any bubbles,

and there was no problem with this either.

 

III. ‘What?’ _UV Printer, Pumping not work even replacing all consumables

1. Slightly dented head protection plate 

Looking under the head, the aluminum was slightly protruding, but it looked okay.

I thought, ‘This part shouldn’t be a big problem’ so I started checking other things, but the problem wasn’t solved,

I thought, ‘Is it because of the aluminum that the head is slightly protruding?’ and removed the head.

2. The iron plate was more dented than expected 

When the head was mounted on the equipment, the aluminum was slightly cracked, but after removing it, it was badly dented.

3. “is the print head damaged?” 

This aluminum is good to have, but it can be used without it, assuming that it has not been greatly impacted.
However, if the print head hits the material during printing later, there is a high probability that it will be damaged.

After loosening the four bolts on the bottom of the print head, removing the aluminum, tightening the bolts again, and performing the ink load (pumping), the ink came out very well into the waste ink bottle.

4. How to remove aluminum 

If the print head hits the material and the aluminum sticks out like the picture above, do not push the aluminum with your hand.
It will be okay a few times, but after a certain period of time, the aluminum that was pushed by hand will stick out again.

Do not use it after cutting it with nippers because it will not be cut cleanly.

Since it will not be cut cleanly, the aluminum may scratch the material during printing.

Loosen the 4 bolts shown in the picture below, remove the aluminum, and assemble the 4 bolts again to use it.
