I. Damper location and role _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
1. Damper location _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
In the picture below, the first thing connected to the ink tube from the main ink tank is the damper.
After the damper, it is connected to the print head to supply ink.


2. Damper Role _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
The damper has two roles:
- It catches the ink flowing through the convection method appropriately and creates the optimal conditions for ink jetting from the print head.
- It filters out air bubbles or impurities from the ink coming through the ink tube from the main ink tank.

UV Printers that use 3 XP600 print heads mostly have a structure like the picture above.
- One for each color of CMYK Lc Lm, a total of 6 cans
- In the case of White, which consumes a lot, 2 cans
- Varnish is 1 can.

Color is
CMYK Lc Lm, one main bottle, one damper each, 1:1 connection
If a specific color does not come out, most problems are solved by checking only that color.
White
supplies ink from the first ink tank to the print head 4 channels, i.e. W1, W2, W3, W4 dampers
Second, supplies ink from the ink tank to the print head 2 channels, i.e. W5, W6 dampers

Varnish
uses one tube, but is connected directly to the main ink bottle with two strands, and the damper is the same as white
White and varnish,
If a specific channel does not come out, and that channel is drawn with a syringe, all parts connected to that ink tube are affected.
For this reason, in the case of white and varnish, you need to know which channels are connecting to each other to solve the problem.
3. When ink supply problems occur _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
Let’s assume that the Lc color and nozzle pattern are not displayed, so we want to check if there is an issue with the ink supply to the damper.
Pull out the Lc damper from the print head, touch the syringe to the print head connection of the damper, and draw ink.
In this way, you can check if there is an issue with the ink supply to the damper by pulling out only the damper and using a syringe.
White and Varnish,
Let’s assume that the W3 nozzle pattern does not come out.
Just like the Lc work, pull out the W3 damper and draw ink with a syringe.
Even if the ink is sucked in, is it coming out of the main ink bottle?
I don’t know if the ink is sucked in from the W1, W2, and W4 dampers that are penetrated.
In this way, when only the W3 damper is worked on, ink comes out at first, and then air bubbles come out.
That is, ink is taken from another channel damper closer to the main bottle,
and when all the ink is taken from that damper, the bottom of the head is open to the air, so only air, not ink, is sucked in.

In the beginning, I only purchased the hard type ink line, and when replacing the damper, I used a hard tube for the missing ink tube.
After replacing it, the head that had been pumping to some extent before did not inkload (pumping).
I suspected that ‘maybe the rubber ring was not sealed properly?’
I opened the gold bolt, put the rubber ring in place, and tightened the bolt with all my strength.
Even so, inkload (pumping) did not occur.

The ink tube connected to the Damper must be a flexible type, and the rubber ring and bolt above cannot prevent air from entering unless the ink tube itself is tightly inserted.
2. Damper inlet & Ink tube diameter _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
After learning about the flexible ink tube and rubber ring,
Before using the damper, I always put the ink tube in and used it if it was tight, otherwise I threw it away.
The shape is the same, but the inlet diameter is different for each damper made by different manufacturers, and the ink tube also has a slight difference in the inner and outer diameter.
For this reason, I think it is reasonable to use the parts that the manufacturer has matched, so I always use the damper and ink tube provided by the manufacturer.
This part is important.

3. White & Varnish _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
In White and Varnish, when drawing ink from the damper with a syringe to check the ink supply to the damper,
other channels that are not drawing ink with a syringe must be blocked.
If this is not done, not only will you not be able to check whether the ink supply in that channel is abnormal,
but other channels that were fine may also have problems.

4. Summary _UV Printer Ink Supply Problem Damper
Regarding ink supply issues, last time I explained the problem that can occur when the ink tube at the bottom of the captop becomes loose,
and today, I explained the ink tube connected to the damper.
Among the inkload (pumping) issues I have experienced for 5 years,
- The first factor is the captop bottom tube
- The second factor is the damper connection
Even now, when an inkload (pumping) issue occurs, this is the first thing to check.
Is there a problem with the ink supply to the front of the print head? If ink comes out without air bubbles when you draw ink from the damper with a syringe, the ink supply to the damper is fine,
and when you check the captop tube at the back of the print head, which is the most frequent,
since the most frequent variable is controlled, these two factors are checked first when an inkload (pumping) issue occurs.
