I’m summarizing UV printer problems and solutions.

Now, I’m organizing the problems and symptoms related to UV Printer heads.

Before dealing with the actual problems and solutions, there are many misconceptions about heads, so I’ll explain the basic knowledge first.

If you understand only the sessions explained here, you will be able to see that you know more about inkjet heads than inkjet manufacturer salespeople or equipment distributor engineers.

Head Basics Summary

 

Last time, I explained why the following problem occurred.

Today, I will explain the problem where a specific color did not appear at all even after replacing the head.

 

I. Problem Symptoms _A certain color doesn’t come out at all  

1. Except for printing _A certain color doesn’t come out at all

Initializing normal operation, printing operation is also normal, and other colors are also printed normally while printing

If the print head is not properly connected to the electronic board, the printing operation will occur, but ink will not be ejected from the entire print head.

As shown in the video below, when the board was powered on, both lights went off at the same time, indicating that the head was communicating properly.

However, when printing, only Light Magenta was not ejected.

 

2. Nozzle Test Printing and Head Replacement _A certain color doesn’t come out at all

If the thick bar image next to the color solid line is not printed, the corresponding channel does not print ink at all.

However, in the photo below, the thin bar image is printed, although not thick. Although this is the first time I have seen this symptom, I assumed that the problem is with the head itself based on my previous experience.

“It prints, but the colors are weird.”

Also, since it was printing without any problems until 30 minutes ago, I thought that there was no reason for the DATA cable to be connected incorrectly in the meantime,

and assumed that the head had reached the end of its life and suddenly had a problem.

I should have checked the DATA cable connection on the board first, but since a customer was waiting,

I didn’t check the cable connected to the board, pulled out the DATA cable from the bottom of the print head, and connected a new print head right away.

However, even after replacing the new print head, the problem was not solved, and the Lm bar came out thin.

II. Causes and Solutions _A certain color doesn’t come out at all

Since the same problem occurred even after replacing the head, I checked the connection status of the electronic board DATA cable.

When I pulled out the DATA cable, the gold part at the very end was slightly out of the board connection area.

There is no picture of it, but the picture below shows the connection area between the DATA cable and the electronic board.

2. Solved after replacing DATA Cable _A certain color doesn’t come out at all

I have never touched the DATA cable connection area during the year of use.

If the DATA cable is not properly connected, it cannot communicate with the board and the ink itself does not be fired, so I could not assume that it was a DATA cable connection problem.

However, when I first installed it, the DATA cable seemed to be slightly outward, and as time passed, the outward connection area was pushed outward, and only the end was slightly in contact,

It seems that this problem occurred in a state where it was neither attached nor unattached.

 

If a thin bar appears like this, you should first check the DATA cable connection status.

When replacing the print head, the data cable connection should be positioned in the center of both the head and the board.

 

For reference, there are also DATA cables with silver head connection parts.

The silver part is weak, so if you pull it out and plug it in once or twice, the silver part will come off.

You must use a DATA cable that is coated gold to reduce the error rate in the future.
