UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
When choosing a UV Printer, CMYK 4-color equipment? 6-color equipment including CMYK Lc Lm?
I know that 6-color equipment has more colors, but I don’t know exactly what the difference is.
Today, I will explain the difference between 4-color and 6-color UV Printers.

II. Factors affecting color implementation _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
1. There are three main types _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
There are three major factors involved in color implementation:
- The color development of the ink itself,
- Print head resolution and offset precision
- Rip software
2. When the ink color itself fades _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color 이
No matter how hard you try to implement that color, it won’t come out.
Especially, if there’s not enough magenta, the red series we want won’t come out.

Now, since UV ink has been out for over 20 years, it seems that there is no ink that lacks the color itself, although each manufacturer implements different colors.

The small dots of the inkjet can implement high printing resolution, and the higher the resolution, the wider the color expression range.
The equipment he purchased is Ricoh’s GH2220 print head, which is indicated as 2~5pl, but it is based on Aqueous and Solvent,
In the case of UV printers, the ink dots are larger than Aqueous and Solvent, so we should consider it as about 5pl,
It was a little larger than the XP600 print head you used before, or at the same dot level, so it was not easy to overcome the color difference through resolution.

Another thing is that no matter how good the print head is, if the offset is not exactly right, high resolution cannot be achieved without that function.
3. Rip software _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
Rip software is an old technology, and unless the software itself has a major defect, it is almost the same.
You have to set the ICC profile well according to the manual,
and if you handle the color adjustment function of each rip well, you can see that there is almost no problem in implementing the color because of Rip software.
III. Difference between 4 colors and 6 colors
1. Color added to 6 colors _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
Technically, C, M, Y, K are also 4 colors, and C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm are also 4 colors.
Lc is Light Cyan, that is, the secondary color concept of Cyan, and similarly, Lm is the secondary color of Magenta.
It is literally Cyan, but light Cyan, and Magenta, but light Magenta.
If you think of almost all 6-color equipment, you can think of it as adding Light Cyan and Light Magenta.
High-priced printers often add Orange or Violet, but since the ink consumption is so low,
not many ink manufacturers supply this color, so it seems that this color is only used in high-priced printers.

2. Color implementation method of C M Y K 4 colors _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
There is no significant difference in dark colors.
Since adding a lot of CMYK makes a dark color, there is no significant difference in image quality whether there is a light color or not.
However, there is a difference when implementing light colors.
However, it is not that light colors cannot be implemented with only CMYK 4 colors.
However, in order to implement the color density of light colors in skin tones or colors with a lot of light colors, black dots are included here and there.
The black dots are so small that they are not noticeable on high-resolution equipment that cannot be seen with the naked eye,
but except for a few equipment, most are around 4~5pl, so the dots are visible.

When looking through a magnifying glass, there are black dots here and there, and that is why they look rough.
3. Color implementation method of C M Y K Lc Lm 6 colors _UV Printer difference between 4-color and 6-color
Lc and Lm are the secondary colors of Cyan and Magenta. When implementing Cyan and Magenta from 0% to 100% concentration,
Light cyan first implements low concentration, and when Lc reaches its maximum, it overlaps with Cyan to naturally implement the concentration.
It is easier to understand if you look at the picture.

For images with a lot of light density, that is, pastel tones, Lc Lm expresses that area naturally, and since the light color series color area is wider, it can implement light color areas that were not possible with 4-color equipment.
Also, since the light color color area is wide, it is not necessary to express the density with black dots, so there are fewer black dots, and the light colors also look less rough.
