Today, we will cover a frequently asked question from those familiar with UV printers.

When printing on the front side and then flipping the material over to print a different image on the back side,

Can the front and back images be aligned? If so, I will explain how to do it.

I. Print Image Description _Flip material over and print it in correct position

 

1. Print material _Flip material over and print it in correct position

1.5t transparent acrylic material.
In order to flip the material and match the front and back images exactly, the material must be transparent.

Many people misunderstand,

‘The material is square, and each edge is 90 degrees’, but when measuring the angle of the material, it does not come out exactly 90 degrees.
Since it is not a square or rectangle, if you align the position based on one side, the other end will be slightly off the intended position.
In this case, the starting point is correct, but the ending point is not in the right position.

If it is not a transparent material like general form-x,

• The crop mark must be pierced on the material itself,
• and the UV printer flatbed must also have the dome mark,
• so that the value can be adjusted based on that.

2. Print image _Flip material over and print it in correct position  

 

Acrylic front
White printed the entire image on transparent acrylic, and Color expressed letters and Braille.

 

Acrylic back
Flipped the material and aligned the position
The Braille was implemented by printing Varnish on the Braille position expressed in Color.

The reason Varnish appears black in the photo above is because the Color is reflected on the bottom.

II. First print run _Flip material over and print it in correct position

Rip First Screen

ARTJET UV Printer automatically changes the image to a mirror image when printing on the back. You should consider this.

Don’t select the image mirror, just set it to “F”
In the image rotation option, make the person’s head face in the “<=” direction.

 

Rip Fourth Screen

Spot_1 White Settings Window “Material”. All image sizes are printed in white.
Spot_ 2 Since only white color needs to be printed, “None” is correct.

 

2. ARTJET SW Setting options _Flip material over and print it in correct position

 

Menu => In the Spot color option window,

Select “Reverse print” for back printing

White density is 50% (6ch x 40% = 300% white density)”

 

Print mode is bidirectional output, Quality mode

 

III. Creating a zig on transparent film and printing the first image _Flip material over and print it in correct position

1. After printing on film, leave only the border _Flip material over and print it in correct position  

This is a task to position the transparent material.

• The vacuum must always be in operation,
• and the top of the transparent film is fixed with tape so that the material itself does not move.

In this state, the first image is printed on the back as shown in the figure below.

When printing is complete,

Cut the center part, leaving only the white edges as shown in the picture below.
If you print the acrylic without cutting the center, the vacuum will be blocked, and the material may warp due to the LED heat when printing the acrylic.

2. Acrylic printing in progress _ Flip material over and print it in correct position

   

Place the transparent acrylic to be printed on the flatbed, and secure the edge where the vacuum is blocked with film by attaching tape.

If the acrylic edge is not secured with tape, the material may bend due to the LED heat during printing.

After changing only the height to Acrylic thickness, print on Acrylic under the same conditions as printed on Pet film.

IV. Flip the material over and print the second image _Flip material over and print it in correct position

Once printing is complete, flip the material over in the direction of the arrow in the photo below, not upside down.

 

Turn the material over and place it exactly on the white border remaining on the transparent PET film, then

Attach the same tape to the edge where the vacuum is blocked.

2. Rip option settings _Flip material over and print it in correct position

 

When printing the first image, change the options of the first window as follows:

• Change to mirror option like hereunder picture
• Change the direction of the person’s head to “=>”

 

3. ARTJET SW Option Settings _Flip material over and print it in correct position

You can print it with the same options as the first print.

Note that if the first image was printed in reverse, the second image should also be printed in reverse.

If the first image is reverse and the second image is forward, and the printing start points are different, the start points of the first and second images will not match.
