Today, I will explain the issue where the software closes and printing does not proceed when you press the print button.

I. Problem _Just press the print button and SW will close 

 

This issue was reported about three years ago, and I’m compiling it because some people occasionally contact me with the same issue.

“When I press the print button, the ARTJET software suddenly shuts down.”

“Is ripping working properly?”

“Yes, ripping is working properly.”

“Can you test the ARTJET Test image to see if it prints properly?”

“The ARTJET Test file prints normally. Why is this file the same?”

“Did anything change when creating the image file?”

“It’s an AI file, and I did the same thing as before.”

“Please send the problematic file to me. I’ll test it on our demo equipment.”

“Okay, I understand.”

 

After 1st print testing,

“As soon as we hit the Print button, the ARTJET software shuts down…I’ll look into it more closely and get back to you.”

 

II. Files containing special characters _Just press the print button and SW will close

1. I don’t know the cause, but it suddenly prints normally _Just press the print button and SW will close

The first time, I ripped and printed the image file I received from the vendor, but the same problem occurred.

The second time, I changed the settings while ripping, saved it as “Test 1,” and then printed.

The software didn’t even close, and printing proceeded normally.

 

2. First and second changes _Just press the print button and SW will close

I made a change in Rip that didn’t seem to cause any problems, just in case, and I couldn’t understand why it was printing properly with this change.

“Could it be because of the @@ special character in the file name?”

 

To determine if the issue was caused by special characters,

• I reverted the settings I’d just changed in Rip to their original settings,
• and simply changed the name back to Test 2. Then, I pressed the print button.
• The software didn’t close, and the print job proceeded normally.

 

Ultimately, the problem was caused by special characters in the file name. The software failed to recognize the special characters, causing the software to crash.

Please avoid using the following special characters in file names when ripping.
