Printing but Nothing come out

Following issues with the ink supply, head, and mechanism, we’ll cover board or software-related issues.

First, we’ll explain what to do when the printer prints but nothing happens.

If the two lights on the board don’t turn off simultaneously and one light keeps blinking, you should immediately press the Power button to turn the printer off.

Leaving the printer in this state for a long time can damage the head, data cable, or even the board.

 

I. Problem _Printing but Nothing come out

 

Equipment initialization is normal.

Other motions are also normal.

When I press the Test button, the nozzle pattern should appear as shown below, but nothing appears.

Even if printing is performed in this state, the head carriage moves and the printing operation takes place, but the ink is not jetted.

This problem occurs when the head board and print head are not communicating properly.

Pressing the Power button on the touch panel supplies power to the head carriage board.

At this time, two lights on the bottom center board will turn on simultaneously, then turn off simultaneously within approximately 7 seconds.

However, if you connect the software before these two lights turn off,

• the software will connect while the head and board are not communicating properly.
• Therefore, while the software and other motions are normal,
• the board cannot send signals to the head, resulting in no output.

After pressing the Power button, make sure both lights turn off simultaneously (after waiting about 7 seconds). Then, connect the software. This will resolve the issue.

However, if both lights don’t turn off simultaneously, immediately press the Power button again to turn the device off.

Leaving the device in this state for a long time can damage the head, data cable, or even the board.

 

This issue also occurs when the head board and print head are not communicating properly.

When you press the power button, the board lights should turn off simultaneously within about 7 seconds.

• However, they don’t. Instead, one light turns off after another with a slight delay.
• After this, the light continues to blink, with a slight delay.
• As shown in the photo below, one light blinks.

The reason the board is flickering like this is because:

• If the flat cable connection between the color, white, or varnish heads is poor, communication between the head and the board is disrupted.
• It can also be caused by a damaged main chip on the head carriage board itself. If the board is damaged, the only solution is to replace it.

If this symptom occurs, immediately press the power button to turn the power off.

Failure to do so may damage the board.

 

II. Check for abnormalities in the head carriage board _Printing but Nothing come out

Board inspection, head inspection, and data cable inspection should always be performed with the printer’s main power switch turned off.

1. Detach the printer cover _Printing but Nothing come out

Detach the Printer cover for convenience.

How to Remove the Emergency Button

• Before removing the entire printer cover, you must first remove the Emergency button.
• Turning the Emergency button screw shown in the image above will loosen the tight top and bottom. Once loosened, twisting it will allow it to detach naturally.
• There’s no need to completely loosen the bolt; just keep it loose.
• When turning the screw, avoid disturbing the wires as much as possible. If the wires are not properly connected, the printer may recognize the button as being pressed and not operate.
• Once removed, place the connected part, including the wires, toward the front of the printer.
• After completely removing the printer cover, position it outside the right side of the printer to avoid interference with the motor and belt.

 

How to Remove the Printer Cover

• As shown in the picture above, the printer cover is secured with two screws on the right end and two on the left end.
• There are black circle caps on the top of each bolt. These must be removed. Be sure to remove them carefully, as they may be damaged.
• Now, using the largest screwdriver on the spare part box, remove the four bolts.
• Two people should hold each end and lift upward to remove the cover.
• Because they are slightly interlocked at the main ink tank, you’ll need to twist them carefully.

 

2. Disconnect all DATA cables from the board _Printing but Nothing come out

Let me emphasize this again:

Board inspection, head inspection, and data cable inspection should always be performed with the printer’s main power switch turned off.

First, disconnect all data cables connected to the board to check for any abnormalities within the board itself.

Here’s how to inspect it:

• First, remove the three bolts on the plate holding the DATA cable,
• and also remove the thin plastic plate on top of the board.
• Now, you can either disconnect the DATA cable itself directly from the small board,
• or you can remove the black screw and separate the small board from the large board.

 

Disconnecting just the DATA cable or the small board itself is the same, but

when disconnecting just the DATA cable,

• physical force is applied to the gold connection, which can sometimes deteriorate the DATA cable connection and require replacement.
• When disconnecting and reconnecting, be sure the gold on the board matches the gold on the DATA cable.

When disconnecting the small board itself,

• the small board is so tightly interlocked with the larger board that you may need more force than expected to separate it from the larger board.
• If you’re having trouble disconnecting the board, we recommend disconnecting just the DATA cable.
• This is because damaging the board itself during disconnection can result in significant financial losses.

 

Once the data cables for the Color, White, and Varnish heads connected to the board are disconnected,

• On the left rear of the printer, turn on the Main switch.
• On the front of the printer, near the touch panel, turn on the Power button.
• Look at the board and observe whether both lights turn on simultaneously and then turn off simultaneously within 7 seconds.
• If both lights go off at the same time and there is no flashing light afterward, the board is fine and you can proceed to the next step..

However, if the board lights do not turn off simultaneously and continue to blink even after disconnecting all cables, the board itself is damaged.

In this case, the only solution is to replace the board.

 

III. Finding Communication Error Head _Printing but Nothing come out

Board inspection, head inspection, and data cable inspection should always be performed with the printer’s main power switch turned off.  

1. Check for any abnormalities after connecting only the color head _Printing but Nothing come out

If the board is normal, the problem is likely the head or data cable.

Since you can’t check the head or data cable separately, you must first determine which of the three heads is causing the communication error: Color, White, or Varnish.

After connecting only the Color head and turning on the power, check that both lights on the board go out simultaneously and stop blinking.

The inspection process is as follows:

• Turn off the entire printer (GUI off => Power button off => Main power switch off), then wait approximately 30 seconds to allow any remaining power to drain from the board.
• Connect only the data cable connected to the Color head to the board. (The left and right cables must be plugged in in order. Do not blindly plug them in. Visually inspect the board to ensure that the gold color on the board matches the gold color on the cable)
• Arrange the White and Varnish data cables so they don’t touch the board.
• When initializing, place the Emergency button outside the printer to prevent it from getting caught on the belt.
• Turn the entire printer ON (power main switch ON => power button ON).
• After turning the power button ON, observe that the two lights on the board turn off simultaneously and stop blinking.

If both lights turn off simultaneously and there’s no further blinking, the color head is normal.

However, if both lights don’t turn off simultaneously and there’s still a blinking light, the color head is the cause of the communication error.

Even if only one of the color, white, or varnish heads is not communicating properly, the board light will blink.

Even if the color head is abnormal, the white and varnish heads should also be inspected.

To do this, turn off all power, disconnect the color data cable from the board, and connect only the white data cable. Repeat the previous steps.

Check the varnish head in the same way as the white head.(Color, white data cable isn’t connected and only Varnish data cable is connected)

 

2. When the color head is normal, check for white and varnish abnormalities. _Printing but Nothing come out

If the color head is normal, leave the color DATA cable connected to the board and inspect the white head.

The inspection procedure is as follows:

• Turn off the entire printer.
• Connect the white DATA cable to the board. (The left and right cables must be plugged in correctly. Do not blindly plug them in. Visually inspect the board to ensure that the gold color on the board matches the gold color on the cable)
• Arrange the varnished DATA cable so it does not touch the board.
• When initializing, ensure the Emergency button is positioned outside the printer so it does not get caught on the belt.
• Turn on the entire printer (main power switch ON => Power button ON).
• After turning on the Power button, observe whether the two lights on the board turn off simultaneously and stop blinking.

If both lights turn off simultaneously and do not blink, the white head is also normal.

3. If the Varnish head is the problem _Printing but Nothing come out

The color and white heads are normal. Leave the DATA cable connected to the board and inspect the varnish.

The inspection procedure is as follows:

• Power OFF the entire printer
• Connect the varnish DATA cable to the board (The left and right cables must be plugged in correctly. Do not blindly plug them in. Visually inspect the board to ensure that the gold color on the board matches the gold color on the cable)
• During initialization, ensure the Emergency button is positioned outside the printer so it doesn’t get caught on the belt.
• Power ON the entire printer (Main power switch ON => Power button ON).
• After turning on the Power button, observe that the two lights on the board turn off simultaneously and stop blinking.

Note that when reconnecting the three-head data cables, if the connection improves, the light that was previously blinking on the board due to a slight misalignment and poor communication may disappear, and the board will immediately return to normal.

 

However, if the board lights don’t turn off simultaneously after connecting the Varnish, and one light continues to blink, check as follows:

• Make sure all power is turned off.
• Since you’ve just checked the data cable connected to the board, you should now check the data cable connected to the print head.
• Separate the entire head assembly, then disconnect the data cable from the head.
• Visually inspect the data cable connection for ink contamination, burn marks, or peeling of the gold.
• If all else is OK, reconnect it, turn the power back on, and observe if the board lights blink.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, the board inside the head may be damaged and will need to be replaced.
