Today I’m going to show you how to print two images at once in Rip.

 

 

I. “Can the images be combined and printed together in Rip?” _Printing two images together in Rip

1. I don’t think there is such a function??_Printing two images together in Rip

The CEO, who has been using ARTJET for over a year, asked me this question, having never used it before.

 

“CEO, I don’t think there’s a function like that. Why don’t you just work on it in Illustrator and then create it?”

“That’s also time-consuming, so I’m asking because I think it would be better to merge it directly in the RIP program.”

“I’ve never used it before…”

“Okay, I understand.”

 

About 30 minutes later, the CEO called back.

 

“Team Leader, I found it. Select two images in RIP, and the [Nest] button will activate. You can do it there. I’ll tell you to post it on your blog later^^”

 

2. Two images with a set size of acrylic _Printing two images together in Rip  

I have the 3mm thickness  transparent acrylic sheet measuring 585 x 300mm.

I needed to print two photos.

Normally, I would have printed the first image first, then re-set the X and Y margins for the second image and printed it.

However, I remembered the nesting feature the CEO mentioned, and decided to give it a try.

The requirements are as follows:

• Acrylic size: 585 x 300mm
• First image: 212 x 141mm
• Second image: 370 x 493mm

I wanted to print two images simultaneously on a 585 x 300mm acrylic sheet!

However, I plan to adjust the print size to match the acrylic size.

II. Work order _Printing two images together in Rip  

 

1. Upload two images to Rip _Printing two images together in Rip

 

Image 1 is sized 212 x 141mm.

Image 2 is 370 x 493mm.

 

If you select images 1 and 2 together, the [Nest] button will be activated.

 

2. A new task window appears when you click [Nest] _Printing two images together in Rip

 

When you click the [Nest] button, a new image will be created in the Rip task queue, as shown in the image on the left below.

Clicking on that task will open a new task window with two images, as shown in the image on the right.

For printing convenience, the printable size has been set to acrylic 585 x 300mm.

Select each image and adjust the print size

This is how it was printed and the photo is after cutting.

Adjusting the margins for each image doesn’t seem to work very well.

It might not always be a necessary feature, but it saves time because, compared to working with two files in Illustrator or Photoshop to match the image size to the print material,

Rip software can provide similar functionality.
