Now, I’m explaining about the products that can be made with a UV Printer.

1. How to print in Braille

Today, we’ll address a question often asked by those familiar with UV printers.

“When printing on the front side and then flipping the material over to print another image on the back, can the front and back sides be aligned precisely?”

I. Print Image Description _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

1. The printing material is transparent material _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

This is a 1.5t transparent acrylic material.
For the front and back images to match exactly when flipped, the material must be transparent.

You might think, “Square material, with each edge at 90 degrees,” but measuring the angle of the material doesn’t result in an exact 90-degree angle.
Because it’s not a square or rectangle, if you align the position based on one edge, the other end will be slightly off the intended position.
If you flip the material upside down and print, the starting point may be correct, but the end point may not be.

If the material isn’t transparent, like a standard Form-X,

  • the material itself must have crop marks,
  • and the UV printer flatbed must also have registration marks.
  • You can use these as a reference for positioning.

2. Print image _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

In the photo above,

The front of the acrylic was printed entirely in white, while the letters and Braille were rendered in color.

The back of the acrylic, i.e., the material, was flipped over to align the position.
The Braille was printed in raised form over the Braille rendered in color using a layer of varnish.

The black dots beneath the varnish were illuminated, rendering the Braille in black.

1. Rip settings _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

Rip First Screen

The ARTJET UV Printer automatically flips the image when printing on the back, eliminating the need to select the “Mirror” option in Rip.

Do not select the image mirror option; simply set it to “F.”

In the image rotation option, the person’s head is oriented in the “<=” direction.

In the Spot_2 Varnish options window, select “None” since only white is needed.

III. Create a location on the transparent film and print the first image _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

1. After printing on transparent film, leave only the border _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

To flip the material and align it, you need to mark the position.

Positioning the Transparent Material

  • Place the transparent material on the plate.
  • The vacuum must remain on at all times to prevent any subsequent changes in position.
  • Fix the top of the transparent material with tape to ensure it remains in its original position.

Print the first image on the back.

Once printing is complete,

  • cut off the center, leaving only the white edges, as shown in the photo below.
  • If the center is not cut, the vacuum force that holds the acrylic material will not be transmitted,
  • and the LED heat during printing may cause the material to bend and hit the print head.
  • For this reason, the center must be cut off.

2. First image printed on acrylic material _Flip the material over and print it in the correct position

Place the transparent acrylic sheet to be printed on a flatbed.

Fix the edges where the vacuum is blocked by the film with tape.

After changing the print height to Acrylic thickness, the image printed on transparent film is printed on acrylic.
