Today, I will explain the process of “ARTJET UV Printer Old Model Refurbished”.
I. Differences between the current ARTJET and the old model ARTJET
1. Same print head, but different electronic board and SW program
Typically, a 600 x 900 print size UV Printer consists of three electronic boards.
* Touch panel electronic board
* Electronic board in charge of X, Y, Z axis motion and image data
* Electronic board that transmits data received from Rip to the print head
These three boards are completely different between the old model ARTJET and the new model ARTJET.
Executable file and general SW
The old model ARTJET executes a file called “executable file” instead of a SW program.
DATA is directly transmitted to the electronic board through Rip SW, and the “executable file” simply performs a connection operation.
For this reason, if Rip SW is not turned off, printing cannot be performed with the “executable file” alone.
The “executable file” only plays a basic role of adjusting the setting values of the electronic board.
On the other hand, the current ARTJET model has a general SW program installed.
It has various additional functions, and its own waveform related to image quality is also built in.
For this reason, it is far superior to the old ARTJET model in terms of functionality and image quality.

2.“Why on earth are you buying the FA1080-a1 print head product?”
Recently, someone called the CEO who purchased the ARTJET and asked,
“Why on earth are you purchasing the FA1080-a1 print head?”
The person who asked that question probably judged it based on the old model ARTJET (which is almost similar to the N company model because it is an OEM version).
Currently, while using ARTJET,
* I reviewed the i3200 and i1600 print heads, but the image quality was not as good as the current ARTJET,
* The xaar1201 print head was discontinued 4 years ago, and the price of the Ricoh gen5i print head continues to rise, so it is too expensive considering the price range of a small UV printer,
* The price of the Ricoh Gen6 print head is also close to 4 million won,,,,
Except for the Japanese Roland LED Printer, the current ARTJET is not far behind other models in terms of image quality.
II. ARTJET Old Model Refurbished
1. Equipment delivered in July 2020
The CEO bought the equipment early, but he barely used it because he had a business to run.
That’s almost 4 years of just turning on the equipment and not printing even once!!
2. Ink line and ink bottle
In the ink tube on the head, use a syringe to inject alcohol into the main ink bottle. If it is unclogged, clean it.
If the ink line itself is blocked without being unclogged, replace the ink line.
If the ink bottle can be cleaned, clean it.
If the ink bottle cannot be cleaned, replace it.
In this way, I finished cleaning the ink tube connected to the print head from the main ink bottle.

3. Replace all consumables
When washing the color ink line, I had a hard time because the alcohol was not pushed out well with the syringe,
so I decided to replace all the consumables that contained the deteriorated ink.
However, before replacing, I used the existing consumables to pump new ink, and I removed any remaining alcohol or deteriorated ink in the ink tube.
And then I replaced everything with new ones.

4. Software installation
Suddenly, the Rip software that was working fine stopped working after a Windows update, and while looking for a solution, it got brighter outside.
I finally found an English site and managed to solve it, but it seems that older equipment has trouble with software compatibility.
After doing a few test prints with the Rip software, I completed the old model refurbishing.

III. UV Printer and Consumables Prices
1. Price of consumables from the seller’s perspective
When I first worked at a UV Printer development company in 2004, one UV Printer cost 200 million!!.
Naturally, the price of the print head was the highest, and the price of the UV mercury lamp was also not cheap.
Selling the equipment was not easy, but if a print head problem occurred after the sale, whether it was the consumer’s fault or the manufacturer’s defect,,, the relationship that had been so good eventually deteriorated.
Because the price was too high, it was burdensome for the sales company, and the person using the equipment had to spend several hundred or tens of millions of won when 4~5 problems occurred,,,
“If the sales price of consumables is high, isn’t it good for the sales company?”
Write it down. The CEO who delivered the equipment to that place could do neither this nor that.
Personally, I am also sensitive to the price of UV Printer consumables, and if the price is high, I don’t choose that model.
2. Price of consumables from the buyer’s perspective
I have a friend who has been in charge of after-sales service for large and small UV printers for over 11 years, and he recently started a printing business.
When I briefly looked at another manufacturer’s Gen 6 print head UV Printer model at K Print exhibition,
“How much does the print head cost?”
“It costs 3 to 4 million won per unit.”
When the equipment cost is 30 million won, if you replace all the print heads, it’s almost 50% of the equipment cost!!
And while talking to me,,
“Team leader, I don’t understand why they would install such an expensive print head on such a cheap small equipment.”
“That’s right, print heads are consumables anyway, so they have to be replaced when the quality deteriorates,”
“No matter how well we use them, we have to replace them after about 2 years due to print quality, and if they say you have to spend more than 10 million won at that time,”
When you say you will use the equipment for about 5 years once you purchase it, I recommend that you definitely check the price of consumables.
