Today, I will explain the process of “ARTJET UV Printer Old Model Refurbishment”.
I. Differences between the current model and the previous model _UV printer old model refurbished
1. Same head, different electronic board and SW _UV printer old model refurbished
A typical 600 x 900 print size UV printer consists of three main electronic boards:
- Touch panel electronic board
- Electronic board responsible for X, Y, and Z-axis motion and image data
- Electronic board that transmits data received from the RIP to the print head
All electronic boards are different between the old and new models.
Executable File and General Software
- The program for the old model is not called a software program, but rather an “executable file.”
- Data is transmitted to the electronic board via the RIP software, while the “executable file” simply performs the connection function.
- For this reason, the printer can only print if the RIP software is running.
- The “executable file” simply adjusts the settings of the electronic board.
In contrast, the current model consists of a general SW program.
- Ripped files can be printed even when the RIP software isn’t running.
- Various additional features have been added.

2. Why XP600 head? _UV printer old model refurbished
“Why are you buying the XP600 (FA1080-a1) head?”
- I considered the i3200 and i1600 print heads, but the image quality wasn’t bad.
- The Gen5i (xaar1201 print head) production and price were too uncertain.
- The Ricoh Gen6 head alone costs nearly 4 million won.
In terms of image quality, it’s comparable to other models, so I’m still using the XP600 head.
II. Old model Ripper _UV printer old model refurbished
1. Equipment delivered in July 2020 _UV printer old model refurbished
The CEO purchased the equipment early, but due to his ongoing business, he barely used it.
For nearly two years, the equipment was left on, but not a single print job was performed. That’s four years!
2. Ink lines and ink bottles _UV printer old model refurbished
I used a syringe to inject alcohol into the ink tubes at the head, cleaning any that were clear.
If the ink lines themselves were clogged and not cleared, I replaced them.
I cleaned any ink bottles that could be cleaned,
and replaced any ink bottles that could not be cleaned.
Thus, I completed cleaning the ink tubes from the main ink bottle to the print head.

3. Replace all consumables _UV printer old model refurbished
When cleaning the color ink line, I had trouble getting the alcohol out of the syringe properly, so I replaced all consumables containing the spoiled ink.
Before replacing, I used the existing consumables to pump the ink to remove any remaining alcohol or spoiled ink from the ink tubes.

4. Software Installation _UV printer old model refurbished
My Rip software, which had been working fine, suddenly stopped working after a Windows update, and I was having a hard time.
Since it’s a four-year-old model, I think I’m having trouble with software compatibility.
I resolved the compatibility issue and completed the repair.

III. UV printer consumables prices _UV printer old model refurbished
1. Seller’s position _UV printer old model refurbished
When I first worked at a UV printer development company in 2004, a single UV printer cost 200 million won!!
Naturally, the print head was the most expensive, followed by the UV mercury lamp, which was also quite expensive.
Selling the equipment wasn’t easy, but if a print head problem arose after the sale, whether due to consumer error or a manufacturer defect, it ultimately soured our previously good relationship.
The price was so high that it was burdensome for the vendor, and the user had to spend a few hundred won, or even tens of millions of won for four or five problems…
“If the sales price for consumables is high, isn’t that good for the vendor?”
You know, the boss might be happy. The salesperson who delivered the equipment to that location was stuck in a rut…
Personally, I’m also sensitive to the price of UV printer consumables, and if the price is high, I tend to avoid choosing that model.
2. Buyer’s perspective _UV printer old model refurbished
I have a friend who has been in charge of after-sales service for large and small UV printers for over 11 years, and he recently started a printing business.
At K Print, I briefly looked at another manufacturer’s Gen 6 print head UV printer model and asked,
“How much do the print heads cost?”
“They’re 3 to 4 million won each.”
If the equipment costs 30 million won, replacing all the print heads would cost nearly 50% of the equipment cost!!
Then, while talking to me,
“Team Leader, I don’t understand why you’d install such expensive print heads on such a cheap, small machine.”
“Of course, print heads are consumables, so they have to be replaced when quality deteriorates.”
“No matter how well you use them, they’ll need to be replaced after about two years due to poor print quality. If that costs more than 10 million won, then…”
Since you plan to use the equipment for approximately five years, I highly recommend checking the cost of consumables.
VI. This is how ARTJET supports our customers.
One thing I feel while selling and maintaining ARTJET UV Printers for 5 years is that the next most important thing after product stability is Troubleshooting DATA.
