ARTJET UV Printer Application 29 _ UVDTF TEST Result
ARTJET UV Printer has been sold in Korea for 4 years, and we are organizing the printer problems we have encountered so far, their causes, and their solutions.
We have compiled 10 different print head problems and 17 ink supply problems, and you can find detailed information at the site below.

Today, we will apply the UV DTF film we created to other actual objects.
I. UV DTF principle
1. UV DTF application scheme

UV DTF Film A
It consists of three layers: an adhesive layer on top of a base film, and a protective film that protects the adhesive.
UV Printing
Remove the Protective film from Film A and print White Color Varnish on the adhesive layer on the Base film.
UV DTF Film B
It consists of two layers: a release agent and a film.
Hot coating
Lay together the Film B release agent and the printed side of Film A.
Attach to objects
If you separate Film A and Film B as shown in the schematic below, the base surface of Film A will be detached.
If you attach Film B to an object and remove it, the base surface of Film B and the release agent will also be removed.
Then, only the adhesive and UV Ink will remain on the object as shown below.

2. Why I explained the UV DTF application scheme
The reason why UV ink sticks to objects is that
the liquid hardens as it slightly penetrates the object, so it sticks to the object,
and the UV ink that falls on it also sticks to each other, so the ink does not fall off.
However, UV DTF film sticks to objects through the adhesive in Film A.
The adhesive sticks well to smooth surfaces such as glass or iron plates, that is, surfaces that are not porous,
and does not stick well to surfaces that are not smooth such as wood, or surfaces that are uneven, because the adhesion area is reduced.
Considering this, you can roughly estimate the level of adhesion before attaching UV DTF film to an object.
II. UV DTF TEST RESULT
1. Objects with good adhesive properties
Metal, glass
The surface is smooth, so the adhesion is good, and when film B is removed, the surrounding stickiness comes off relatively easily.

Plastic
Unpainted plastic has good adhesion, and when film B is removed, the surrounding stickiness comes off relatively easily.

Painted surface
The adhesion to the following objects is good, and when film B is removed, the surrounding stickiness comes off relatively well.
However, since it is attached to the painted surface, it may vary depending on the type of paint.

Even for similar home appliances, workability differs greatly depending on the paint and surface roughness. PCs were easy to work with, but laptops were not.

2. Objects that do not adhere well
Unpainted wood, rough surface
Rubber roll, rough surface
Painted sheet metal, rough surface
Pencil case, speaker, rough surface

One thing that is unusual is that in the case of the stapler, the painted surface did not stick well even though it was smooth. It seems that the adhesive strength varies depending on the type of paint.
3. Video
It’s a 7-minute video, and for about 1 minute, I mentioned whether the work was easy or difficult for each of the 18 materials.
From the 1st minute on, it’s the process of making UV DTF, as follows.
* UV DTF preparation materials and general explanation of the entire process
* Place the material to be printed on the printer
* Explain the printing conditions and actual printing
* Overlap Film B on the printing surface without bubbles (We also half failed and half succeeded)
* Now transfer it with a thermal coater (It’s so much better to use a thermal coater than doing it by hand)
* Cut the image you want to apply (I bought a cheap cutter, and it’s so convenient)
* Apply it to the mouse
* Cell phone (It doesn’t match the material well)
* Take the glass cup out of the freezer
* Apply it to an oily and slightly roughly painted iron plate
One thing to be careful of is that
At that time, a sheet thermal coater was used, and since sheet thermal coaters cannot avoid bubble defects, you should use a roll thermal coater. If you use a roll coater, the process of making UV DTF becomes much simpler.
